The KJP Group was founded by, Kamilah J. Perkins.  Kamilah, has worked in education and the college and career readiness field for over 15 years. She has worked with many schools, organizations and communities to help students and families bridge the gap from high school to college by developing programming models, college tours, career expositions and offering scholarships through her non profit The Village Foundation.  While some schools and organizations are doing a great job equipping students with the tools needed for life and college success, many are merely offering adequate tutoring or quality college readiness programs.  While many focus on the quantity, more need to assess the quality of program offered to youth. Quality exposure produces qualified students.

After, witnessing many schools an organizations offer sub par college readiness programs and fail to prepare students and families adequately, Kamilah, decided to take another approach by working directly with schools, organizations and families that are serious about preparing youth for post-secondary education and careers.

This passion comes from her personal experience as a first generation college graduate, a product of the Chicago Public School system that holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education, and currently working on doctoral research assessing college readiness programs.  With the assistance of a supportive environment, Kamilah has reached many dreams and desires to help other students reach their dreams as well.

In recent years, the need has grown and many for equipping students with academic planning, financial planning and leadership development. Educational consulting and project management are needed for many schools, school districts and families to navigate the transition elementary to high school and from high school to college.  Contrary to popular beliefs and or myths, college and career readiness begin in elementary school, not high school. KJP & Associates can take your idea or challenge and develop a plan for execution to prepare your students for college entry and graduation exit.
